Fresh from standing as our Greater London Assembly constituency candidate for Brent and Harrow earlier this year, Jonny Singh will be standing for the Liberal Democrats in the new Brent East constituency covering Willesden Green, Dollis Hill, Cricklewood and Mapesbury, and surrounding areas.

Jonny grew up in the southwest of England and after graduating from Cardiff University joined the Royal Air Force where he served as an officer and helicopter pilot. Jonny was first posted to fly search and rescue missions, spending almost three years working with the coastguard, RNLI and emergency services to rescue citizens in distress across the UK and Falkland islands. He then transferred to fly Chinook helicopters carrying out missions across the world, including four deployments to Afghanistan where he was twice decorated for bravery in action.

Jonny left the RAF in 2012 and moved to London to study for a masters degree at the London School of Economics. After graduating he moved into the international development and humanitarian sectors, where he worked to support communities affected by conflict, crisis, and poverty in a number of countries including Nicaragua, Myanmar, South Sudan, and Northern Nigeria.

Jonny moved to Brent in 2021 and has been an active campaigner and volunteer for the Liberal Democrats across London, as well working to develop the party’s international affairs policies. His recent work has focused on education and youth work here in London and supporting education programmes in West Africa. In his spare time, he volunteers to support children with additional needs in Brent as part of a youth charity.

During his election campaign, Jonny will be highlighting the need for improvements to NHS services, including easier access to GPs and dentists, investment in local youth services, building truly affordable homes in Brent, and ensuring that we protect our green spaces and waterways so everyone can access and enjoy our environment.

I am proud to be standing up for the people of Brent East to demand a fair deal for our families and our communities. I have always believed in serving the people of this country, and standing up for what I believe in. Our area deserves better than the tired old politics of Labour and Conservative, and we need a fresh approach to truly tackle the challenges we face and give everyone the opportunities they deserve.

As a Brent resident, he will always put the interests of local people first”.
