More Trains on the Piccadilly Line
The Lib Dems want to ensure that residents living along the Piccadilly line — particularly in areas such as Alperton & Sudbury — are not left behind when it comes to transport investment and reliability.
The amendment was proposed by Cllr Charlie Clinton to a Labour motion on improving public transport in Brent. It calls on the Leader of the Council to write to the Mayor of London urging Transport for London (TfL) to increase services on the Uxbridge branch to match those on the Heathrow branch.
The amendment also highlighted the ongoing lack of Night Tube services on the Uxbridge branch. This is particularly challenging for residents in Alperton & Sudbury at the western end of Brent, who live significantly further away from central London than other Brent residents.
The amendment was passed with cross-party support — a win for Brent’s Liberal Democrats, who will continue to fight for better, fairer transport links across the borough — starting by ensuring the Council acts on the amendment.
The original motion highlights the importance of a robust transport network to Brent’s prosperity and sustainability – and we want to make sure that those living on the Uxbridge branch of the Piccadilly line in Alperton & Sudbury are not left behind. With thousands of new commuters living in Alperton particularly, and more on the way, its time TfL invested in our services.
